Mauritius Travel Guide From a Photographer's Lens
Mauritius, the island nation in the Indian ocean known for its beaches was first discovered by Arab sailors way back in 975. It's a place one heads towards when one think of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Mauritius would charm you beyond the beaches and resorts. As a writer /photographer, it was starting point of my journey of unexplored territories within me. So let's open up the door of new learnings to this fabulous place called Mauritius.
Mangal Mahadev
Mangal Mahadev is the tallest statue with 108 feet height located in Savaane district, Mauritius. It's one of most sacred religious place in Mauritius. There are other god statues too like of Durga Mata, Hanuman Ji & many others. It's a very calm place where you will find peace & a chance of photography with these awesome backgrounds.
Fort Adelaide
Another interesting place for the photographers is the Fort Adelaide(Citadelle). The fort was build by Britishers in 1830 to keep a watch at enemies as one can see the entire city of Port Louis from here( it's around 100 meters from ground). A best place to capture the panoramic beauty of Port Louis & Moka ranges.
Chamarel Waterfall
Chamarel Waterfall is the next popular destination which has 100m height and is one of the largest waterfall in Mauritius. The view of the water fall & breeze would be an experience of lifetime for any traveler. Words might fall short to tell the experience. So be there to experience it. Also it's a place where you can do hiking / trekking if you are game for it.
Seven colour earth
Another top tourist spot near the Chamarel waterfalls is the Seven colour earth which is actually formed by the conversation of the lava to the clay minerals. This place is a must visit as it gives a glimpse of these different colored wonder & an opportunity to click some of the finest photographs with your loved ones with this fascinating background.
Le Caudan Waterfront Casino
Mauritius is know for the casinos too. One of the them is 'Le Caudan Waterfront Casino' located in Port Louis which has spectacular view. You can try your luck if you like it with some beer, drink of choice and have a fun time.
Ille Aux Cerfs
Apart from these prominent locations , most resort offer travel by yatch / speed boat which can be fun and with some Great pictures. Recommended island within an island spot is the Ille Aux Cerfs ( In the east coast). This place also offers kiteboarding , water sports & the panoramic views would mesmerize you for a long time.
Pereybere beach
Pereybere beach offers some of the fabulous photography opportunities as it has clear water , white sand & background of palm trees. A must visit for all travelers. Another prominent beach is Balle Mare beach, which is also a recommended spot.
La Vanille Nature park
Also don't miss the La Vanille Nature park where you can see the biggest tortoise ( more than 200 years of age) in the world and you can touch & click some of the memorable photographs with these rare species which are there for centuries.
The journey of Mauritius would be remembered for long time as you will take back these memories for a lifetime with you.
